Valley Pentecostal Church is seeking:
A community-minded relational pastor with a solid biblical foundation, a
strong personal relationship with Jesus, a hunger for the word, and a
passion for the Holy Spirit.
LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS
Education: Minimum Diploma/Degree from Bible College
Credentials: Active PAOC credentials
Ministry Experience: 5 years of Ministry preferred

Church was built in 1981, we’ve had 5 senior pastors during that time – with the last staying 20+ years.

Demographics
80% of the church is 50+, and 68% are female. 56% of the church has
been attending for >10 years. 8% of the church are a visible minority. There
is also a large francophone (Bilingual) percentage. 52% of the congregation
are college/university graduates, and 4% have Masters or Doctorate
degrees.

Community Bio
Hanmer is part of the Greater City of Sudbury (which has a population of
~165k). The City of Greater Sudbury encompasses an area of over 3,100
km2 and is the largest municipality in Ontario. Hanmer is one of the smaller
communities that was amalgamated into the Greater City of Sudbury in 2001.
Industry
Primarily a Mining town with multiple industries supporting this. Other major
employers are the Taxation Centre, and the Health Care Sector.
Schools
There are multiple school boards, the Public School Board (Rainbow
District) and the Catholic School Board. Both of these have both English
and French schools. There are numerous high schools in the area which
have specialized programs (tech, trades, the arts, etc.).
Shopping, services, conveniences
Groceries, pharmacies, restaurants, and a modest mall are present in
Hanmer. The town centre (Sudbury) is 25km away and has all amenities.
Distance from major centres
The Major Centre of Sudbury is about 25km from the Church.
Sports, recreation, outdoor activities in the community
There’s a recreation centre in the immediate area, as well as numerous
parks, and splash pads. There’s a conservation area in Sudbury with hiking
trials. Two main attractions are present as well: Science North (science
centre) and Dynamic Earth (essentially a mining museum). There are a
number of Provinicial Parks within an hour or two of Sudbury as well as
Onaping Falls about an hour north of the City. Lots of beaches and
campgrounds are within about a 30 minute drive.
